We are currently accepting applications for the following positions at our Port Alberni and Coombs Operations.

1. SENIOR FOREST ENGINEER
Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate (s) will be reporting to the Project Managers and will be responsible  for leading a team of Assistant Forest Engineers in the completion of block layout: total chance planning, field reconnaissance, road layout, block layout, resource assessments, client liason, office block administration and tutoring colleagues.
The Senior Forest Engineer must be a team player who is focused on personal safety, providing quality services/products and working efficiently.
Eligibility Requirements
Interested applicants for the Senior Forest Engineer position must be able to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education from an accredited College or University with a degree or dipoma in the field of "Forestry;" or significant directly-related experience.
  • Be an active member, or eligible for registration, with the ABCFP.
  • Must demonstrate a minimum of five years BC Coastal forest industry engineering experience acting in a Senior Forest Engineer role.
  • Must be experienced in the use of Trimble GPS, Roadeng and ArcMap software, and
  • Possess a valid BC driver's license.

2. ASSISTANT FOREST ENGINEER
Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate (s) will be reporting to Senior Engineers and will be responsible for assisting in the completion of block layout,  total chance planning, field reconnaissance, road layout, block layout, resource assessments, an office block administration.
The Assistant Forest Engineer must be a team payer who is focussed on person safety, providing quality services/products and working efficiently.
Eligibility Requirements
Interested applicants for the Assistant Forest Engineer position must be able to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Successful completion of post-secondary eduction from an accredited College or University with a degree or diploma in the field of "Forestry;" or significant directly-related experience.
  • Be an active member, or eligible for registration, with the ABCFP
  • Must be able to demonstrate  a minimum of two years BC Coastal forest industry engineering experience acting in a Assistant Forest Engineer role.
  • Must have experience with the use of Trimble GPS, Roadeng & ArcMap sorfware.
  • Possess a valid BC driver's license, and
  • Must reside in the Nanaimo, Parksville or Port Alberni area.

3. REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL FORESTER (RPF)
Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Management Team and will be responsible for  completing site plans, assisting with post-harvest obligations (planting supervision, pile burning and silviculture surveys), completing salvage permit applications, client liason, peer reviews and training.
The Registered Professional Forester (RPF) must be a team player who is focussed on person safety, providing quality services/products and working efficiently.
Eligibility Requirements
Interested applicants for the Registered Professional Forester (RPF) postion must be able to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • successful completion of post-secondary education from an accredited University with a degree in the field of "Forestry."
  • be registered with the ABCFP as an RPF
  • be confident with Cengea software, as well as Coastal road and cutblock site plans preparation
  • experience with Roadeng and ArcMap
  • familiar with Ecosystem Based Management 
  • provide leadership with regards to safety, EMS, legislation and standards
  • mentor Junior Foresters
  • possess a valid BC drivers licence

4. ASSISTANT GIS TECHNICIAN
Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be reporting to the GIS Manger and will be responsible for working independantly to complete operational and high level mapping projects for the forestry and silviculture departments.
The Assistant GIS Technician must be a team player who is focussed on providing quality services/products and working efficiently.
Eligibility Requirements
Interested applicants for the Assistant GIS Technician position must be able to demonstate the following criteria:

  • successful completion of post-secondary education from an accredited University or College in the field of Geographic Inforamtion Systems (GIS)
  • 3-5 years experience using ESRI software products for mapping and analysis
  • excellent data management and cartographic skills
  • LiDar Systems and processing
  • familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Access and office products
  • organizational skills with regards to data archiving. structure, naming conventions and other management standards
  • excellent attention to details
  • a valid BC drivers licence
